Earlier this summer, I have got an invitation to take a part in the international art exhibition ‘Into the Hope’ in Seoul. The exhibition was part of the 70th Annivarsary of Korean Liberation from the Japanese colonial rule and it was organised by Korean Women Visual Designers’ Association (KWVD).
KWVD president Mi Young Lee says in a catalogue introduction, “In particular, this exhibition has been planned to reassure the audience and deliver the message of hope by displaying a variety of visual images regarding hope on t-shirts, which are expressed solely by female sensibilities. T-shirts displayed in this exhibitionwill bedonated to marginalised people.”
68 established Korean artists submitted their works, as well as 33 international artists from all around the world (Bulgaria, Chile, China, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, India, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Phillippines, Russia, Serbia, USA, UK, Vietnam… 24 countries in total).
So, yesterday arrived by post a small parcel with two copies of the exhibition catalogue and a t-shirt with my work ‘I’m not crying – it’s raining’ printed on it. It’s been a while since I took a part in similar international exhibition and it is always good to have a catalogue and check what other artist have to show.
